Hét lövedék csapódott be vasárnap este az iraki Balad légibázison, ahol amerikai katonák is állomásoznak, írja az Al-Jazeera. Három iraki katona megsérült a támadásban.
A Bagdadtól körülbelül 80 kilométerre északra
lévő légibázist az amerikai helyőrség nagy része már elhagyta sajtóértesülések szerint. A lövedékek egy része a kifutópályát, más része a kaput találta el.
Mohammed Khalil, az észak-iraki Szalah al-Din tartomány rendőrségének egyik tisztje az Al-Jazeerának azt nyilatkozta:
„Három kaput őrző iraki katona sérült meg a támadás következtében.”
Egyelőre senki se vállalt felelősséget az akcióért. Az utóbbi hetekben Irán és az Egyesült Államok között komoly feszültség alakult ki, miután utóbbi célzott támadásban kivégezte Kasszem Szulejmáni tábornokot, az iráni Kudsz milícia parancsnokát.
