Egyszerűen nem képes nem hazudni…..
Formailag persze igen, hiszen ő írta alá, elég beszarinak tűnt a sok nagyság között.. (Én ezt Koppenhágában láttam a magyar klubban tévén, de egy másik tévécsatorna meg is interjúvolt minket. Akkor jó volt magyarnak lenni). Ámde ő., ugye 1998-ban került kormányra, a NATO-csatlakozás 1999-ben volt, jé, egy év alatt lezavarta az egészet (megjegyzem, a többi, volt szocialista országgal együtt -. akkor visszautasított Szlovéniát kivéve)?
Ha méltóságod elfelejtette volna: a NATO-csatlakozás ötletét Horn Gyula vetette fel és az előző, szocialista-szabaddemokrata kormány tárgyalta végig.
Persze, az EU csatlakozással meg az ellenkezője volt, mert hogy azt valóban az ő kormányának szakértői tárgyalták, kivéve az utolsó nyolc hónapot és a záró tárgyalást. Igaz, hogy ez a szakasz volt a legnehezebb.
Nem is dicsekedett vele.
Háttér
1997. november 16-án Magyarországon népszavazást tartottak az ország NATO-csatlakozásáról. A szavazólapon szereplő kérdés így hangzott:
Egyetért-e azzal, hogy a Magyar Köztársaság a NATO-hoz csatlakozva biztosítsa az ország védettségét?
A voksolást megelőző időszakban a Horn-kormány és az Országgyűlésbe bejutott ellenzéki pártok is a NATO-tagság fontosságát hangsúlyozták, csak két parlamenten kívüli párt, a MIÉP és a Munkáspárt ellenezte a belépést. A MIÉP – két nappal a szavazás előtt a Budapesti Kongresszusi Központban tartott – NATO-ellenes kampányrendezvényén több felszólaló is azt hangoztatta, hogy az észak-atlanti szövetség nem tudja garantálni a magyar nemzet biztonságát.
A szavazáson végül 49,2 százalékos részvétel mellett a választók 85 százaléka a NATO-ba való belépés mellett döntött.
Érdekes párhuzam, hogy Orbán Viktor 2022 március 4-én, majdnem 23 évvel Magyarország csatlakozása után a Kossuth Rádióban a MIÉP 1997-es álláspontjához hasonlóan értékelte az aktuális háborús helyzetet. Orbán az orosz-ukrán háború kapcsán elmondta, hogy
az a legveszélyesebb, ha bármilyen módon belesodródunk a konfliktusba, és szerinte téved, aki úgy gondolja, hogy a NATO képes megvédeni minket. (forrás)
