A magyar labdarúgó-válogatott 1-1-es döntetlent játszott kedden az Eb-ezüstérmes angol csapat vendégeként a világbajnoki selejtezősorozat nyolcadik fordulójában negyedik maradt a csoportjában.
A Wembley Stadionban rendezett mérkőzésen Marco Rossi szövetségi kapitány együttese Sallai Roland büntetőjével a 24. percben került előnybe, a házigazdák pedig a 37. percben egy pontrúgást követően John Stones révén egyenlítettek. A nemzeti együttes az Évszázad mérkőzése, azaz a 68 évvel ezelőtti legendás, 6-3-as diadal óta először nem kapott ki Angliában. Azóta nyolcszor vereséggel tért haza a szigetországból.
